Listen to the podcast here: Alkalise or Die

Sounds a bit extreme right? Unfortunately not, some statistics say that over 40% of us will die of cancer.

Alkalise or Die s the title of a must read book, by Dr. Theodore Baroody.

Cancer loves an acidic environment and CANNOT live in healthy tissue.

Health thrives in alkalinity, disease thrives in acidity.

Today I will share with you an introduction on the alkaline diet and why I believe its so important for us to feel good and have plenty of energy.

Alkaline blood can hold up to 20 times more oxygen than acidic blood!

The body continually strives to balance pH, using lots of energy in the process.

The pH of the body controls and affects all the functions of the body… Research is starting to show that many common diseases may be caused by having a body that is too acidic.

When the body is in a constant state of acidity it creates an environment more prone to disease.  Unfortunately, our fast-paced western lifestyle, and “unconscious” way of eating can create an excessive acid load within our bodies.

The typical western diet is made up of a collection of acidic foods and drinks.

You can test your own urine or saliva to see what your Ph is by using a PH test strip first thing in the morning, before you have consumed anything. Healthy people will have a PH level of about 7.2 to 7.4

It is said that between 70%-80% of your diet should be alkaline and 20%-30% acidic. Alkaline forming foods in your diet add to the cleansing effect of your digestive system.

Having a proper pH balance aids in weight loss.

Most alkaline foods are green vegetables, some fruits, sprouts and seeds. These all have a detoxifying effect when added to your diet.

Serious cell degeneration may be controlled and the process of aging be slowed down in an alkaline body.

This list can help you get a better idea of the ph balance of your body.

If you experience the following , it may be an indication of being too acidic.

1. Acne

2. Agitation

3. Muscular pain

4. Cold hands and feet

5. Dizziness

6. Low energy

7. Joint pains that travel

8. Food allergies

9. Chemical sensitivities to odor, gas heat

10. Hyperactivity

11. Panic attacks

12. Pre-menstrual and menstrual cramping

13. Pre-menstrual anxiety and depression

14. Lack of sex drive

15. Bloating

16. Heartburn

17. Diarrhea

18. Constipation

19. Hot urine

20. Strong smelling urine

21. Mild headaches

22. Rapid panting breath

23. Rapid heartbeat

24. Irregular heartbeat

25. White coated tongue

26. Hard to get up in morning

27. Excess head mucous (stuffiness)

28. Metallic taste in mouth

There is an amazing importance in creating an alkaline body.

Most people aren’t even aware that they are creating either an acidic or alkaline body!!

This is the pH of the body’s fluids and tissues which is entirely different from referring to an “acidic stomach”.

What can You do Now Which is Easy?

Now making radical changes may not be possible right now, but by taking Alkalising salts each morning and evening, on an empty stomach, you can help boot your heath massively.

It’s a basic bicarbonate of soda buffer and reduces the acidity of your blood and organs very effectively.  If you do anything – do this.

I would recommend you buy Phil Richards Alkalising Salts. (google it)

I hope this article showed you the dangers of our poor lifestyle and the benefits of becoming less acidic and more alkaline.

Until next time, take care

Richard

Technically this list of animal protein is not alkaline and is actually an acidic food. However I feel it is important to eat some animal protein for quality amino acid sources and other helpful nutrients.

These are the least acidic of the animal protein sources. If eaten with other high alkaline foods it is possible to keep your overall pH level between 6.5 and 7.5. You can manage the balance of higher and lower pH foods by using pH-testing strips to adjust your diet.

    Hey Rich,

Thanks for putting together a great article. My Girlfriend I were relieved to discover that most citrus fruits have an alkalizing effect in the system.

I’m about to eat an Orange with some plain Yoghurt for dessert.

    Keep up the good work!

      Hey Paul,
Cheers mate, i also found that to be a bit opposite to what u would think.
      Hope you enjoyed your desert.

      Peace brother

hI rIch, just had your talk on health issues at the SCOW club. Asked you for some direction on eating healthy with Diabetes. You stated that pasta puts on weight around the belly button area, which is where I have it. Now know how to control the “dome” effect but would like some advice on the right foods to eat with diabetes. Liked the Alkaline detox and enjoyed your presentation. Very interesting and broke up a normally loooooooong day. I remember you when you played for Bonymaen, I think I was on the downward slope then and don’t think we played together.

Hi Gerald, i do remember the bony days mate! Glad you enjoyed.

You cant really change the amount of food you eat as its been set by your dietitian/diabetic nurse, consult with them before you make any big changes. What i would suggest is you swap pasta for wholegrain brown rice or sweet potatoes (see the sheet i sent for other “complex carbs”). the main thing is not to eat CARB only meals, try to make sure you get veg and some fish in there too! Thanks for the comment and support, take care, and good luck, Richard
